Allison began riding horses at the age of 7 in Mesa, Arizona. She started out in the hunter ring and soon moved to the jumper ring. When Allison was 15 she entered her first Grand Prix in Scottsdale, Arizona on one of her imported mounts, and she knew from that day that she wanted to strive to be at the top of the equestrian sport.
Since she was 16, Allison qualified for the Zone 8 North American Young Riders Championships. She competed in the Championships in the US and Canada for six years, and in 2005 she earned the team silver medal. After graduating high school, Allison moved to Germany to further her riding knowledge. She rode and showed her own horses along with other horses at the facility. Allison and her horses came back to the US and shortly after their return Allison piloted Omar Shariff to 6 Grand Prix wins, including the $60,000 Grand Prix of Denver.
In 2007, Allison and Nomograaf earned the alternate spot to represent the US in the 2007 World Cup Finals in Las Vegas, NV. As an alternate Allison was invited to compete in the Grand Prix at the World Cup Finals. In the fall of 2007, Allison and Nomograaf captured the win in the $50,000 World Cup Qualifier in Las Vegas, NV. Over the years Allison has won over 50 Grand Prix's on many different horses.
In 2010, Allison wanted to further her knowledge of running an elite show barn so she took an Assistant Trainer position at Windfall Farm in Green Valley, CA. There she had the privilege to work under Gry McFarlane, who has operated a successful show barn for over 25 years. In 2013, Allison brought her years of experience and success back to Arizona by opening Kroff Stables. The results were extraordinary. Now she and her husband, James Girolamo, operate an elite show barn that compete at the biggest shows on the West Coast.
Nicole Dohner is originally from San Diego, Ca where she grew up riding and showing, primarily in the jumper ring. She routinely showed at Del Mar Horse Park, the Oaks in San Juan Capistrano, and Thermal in Indio. As a teenager in high school, she was heavily involved at her barn as a working student. She discovered a love for teaching at a young age, working many summers as a counselor at an equestrian summer camp. She also have had the privilege of working at the largest tack store on the West Coast, where she gained a lot of knowledge about tack, saddles, and many different horse care products. Nicole then moved to Texas for an Assistant Training position at one of the premier hunter/jumper facilities in Texas. There she trained the horses to compete nationally at shows like Devon and Capital Challenge. We are excited to have her dynamic education at Kroff Stables.
